Dog > Human

I have the feeling that dogs are really becoming super cheeky. In Germany, you have to go out of the dogs' way, because they won't. I remember the time, when dogs feared men. I would not even have to watch, because dogs just knew that they had to yield and go out of my way. I respect dogs and I always watch them. Especially since the past few years, because they are becoming so cheeky that if I don't watch, I might accidentally run them over. The trend I am seeing is that dogs used to respect men and now the roles have changed: dogs are somehow above men. Disclaimer: Maybe it's just my Germany-2019-bias. Have you seen a general shift in dogs' attitude in the past 10-20 years? Is this phenomenon in any way related to our growing respect and inclusion of all types of minority groups?

Does talent exist?

First, here are some lines from Marcus Aurelius' Meditations, where he lays out 11 virtues that you should strive to improve at. Watch how none of these requires talent. Only will. integrity dignity hard work self-denial contentment frugality kindness independence simplicity discretion magnanimity Imagine the guy who writes this down. Picture a dude who actually lives by these virtues. I would love to have a friend like that. Yes, there are certain things you cannot change about yourself. But adhering to these virtues is guaranteed to make you a better person. It may alienate some people from you because in our day and age these qualities are not sexy. It will alienate the wrong people though, and, over time, it will attract the right ones. True friends you will make.
